COMPONENTS OF MULTIMEDIA:
Images
e.g -paintings, photographs, maps, graphics, cartoons, charts, diagrams and illustrations.
The media may be covered by copyright law because the illustrator of the image has skills to create the unique images. They also have to pay for the program or software. An example is photoshop.
Text
e.g.- novels, textbooks, poems, song lyrics, newspaper articles, computer software, computer games and directories.
These especially books, take up to years to create, while newspaper articles take a short time. It is unfair for someone to copy this because it is not their work, and they have to make an effort to create what they want.
Music
e.g.- melodies, song music, advertising jingles, film scores and podcasts
Music is one of the important components of multimedia. It may be covered because many people can change it slightly and claim it is theirs. Also song artists actually get a fair amount of money for creating and publishing their own songs. Without us paying for their songs over iTunes for example can lead to serious trouble for the artist. It is important for us to understand that if we don’t pay they won’t publish more songs and therefore we won’t be satisfied.
Film-animation
e.g. - feature films, short films, documentaries, television programs, interactive games, television advertisements and music videos
These take up to years to create and publish. Videos may be protected by law as it needs to be sold in the market. It is illegal for people to download it. However, again this will lead to the actors losing money as well as the stores that sell or make you rent it. It also takes up a lot of time and effort, especially when it comes to editing.
